A Swiss Book

Hi and welcome back, today I wanted to talk about a Swiss book called Heidi. Heidi is a strong girl who loved mountains and goats. The author of Heidi is Johanna Spyri. This book is full of laughs, bravery, confidence, and a little bit of sadness. Heidi is also made into a movie. The little difference from the book and movie is that the characters look different, some parts were added in the movie that aren’t in the book. The mountains Heidi sees have names in the book but don’t in the movie.

Johanna has written more than twenty- five books but, only Heidi is famous. Johanna is a very good writer in my perspective.Heidi is published by Puffin in Bloom Collection. If you find the other three main books published by the Puffin in Bloom Collection you read them if you want. I haven’t read them yet but, I soon will. The other three main books published by Puffin in Bloom Collection are: Anne of Green Gables, A Little Princess, and Little Women. I encourage you to read Heidi.

Update 4/3:

Heidi was sent to go live with her Grandfather who was called Uncle Alp in the mountains of Switzerland. She played with the goats and went up to the mountains with Peter, the goatherd which Heidi made friends with. Before going to go live with grandfather Heidi lived with her aunt named Deitie because Heidi’s parents had died after she was born. Her father had died fighting and her mother died after giving birth to Heidi.

After a good three years of living with her grandfather; her aunt Deitie came back and sent her to a rich family living with a governess in Frankfurt. The family had only one daughter named Clara, who was wheel-chaired. Heidi soon became friends with Clara and her Grandmother, whom she called her as Grandmama. Grandmama read stories to Heidi so she could go to sleep at night. Heidi could not read or write because she never had gone to school. So Clara’s tutor had a hard time making her read and teaching her the alphabet but, she soon learned to read and write. All the while at Frankfurt Heidi got homesick more and more. She cried every night till her pillow was wet. One of the servants came into her room and saw that she was crying and called the doctor. The doctor said that Heidi was homesick and needed to go home. So she was sent home with one of the servants named Sebastian.

After she came back Heidi had to  become stronger because was barely able to eat even a morsel of food when she was in Frankfurt. She became stronger and was free in the mountains playing with Peter. Later on a visitor had come for Heidi. It was the doctor that had sent Heidi back home from Frankfurt. He stayed in the hut in Dorfli a town where Peter went to school in the winter. He also spent time with Heidi and Heidi’s Grandfather.

After the doctor had left Heidi always went to the pasture with Peter. After a year or so another visitor for Heidi had come. It was Clara , her friend from Frankfurt. Peter hated that Heidi would never play with him when Clara was around so when nobody was watching he threw Clara’s wheelchair down a waterfall. Clara learned to walk since she had no wheelchair. Clara spent about a month at Heidi’s. When Clara was leaving Heidi was sad to see her go but was promised that Clara would come back the same time next year. That is the story of Heidi.

Johanna the author of Heidi had also written an authors file.  See you next time! Bye! Here is the picture of the authors file:
